The first challenge for Hugh Freeze last December was to get Ole Miss football believing in itself again. Clearly, that was accomplished in the first two games, but confidence on the heels of 2-10 can be a fragile confidence. This is an important week of practice to see how the Rebels respond. Hanging heads and feeling sorry for themselves is not in the team’s “DNA,” cornerbacks coach Wesley McGriff said.
Just listening to the talk, it doesn’t sound like a 66-31 loss to Texas did too much damage to the psyche. That remains to be seen, I reckon. For now offensive lineman Emmanuel McCray offers an opinion on Ole Miss against the remaining SEC schedule which wasn’t as gloomy as many had back in August. Today’s Column
