Good morning and welcome to the Friday Chat.
I haven’t come across anyone who believes the Rebels will win at No. 1 Alabama Saturday. I would run into the occasional fan who was optimistic for the Rebels’ chances against Texas a couple of weeks back. Going into that game the scouting report on the Longhorns was that there were questions in the vertical passing game and that the defense would bend but not break.
Ultimately David Ash answered those vertical questions, enough to off-set 31 points scored by Ole Miss.
There is no such scouting report for Alabama. The buzz word on each side of the ball is efficiency.
The question for the Rebels isn’t about winning or losing but more about how many points can an improved Ole Miss offense score on a team that’s allowed just 21 points all year?
We had a little basketball news during the week. Seems that beyond DeMarco Cox (foot) that the Rebels are healthy heading into the Oct. 12 start of practice. Murphy Holloway sustained a severely sprained ankle during the summer but has been full speed for more than a week.
If there’s one guy the Rebels can’t afford to miss it’s Holloway.
It is Errand Friday, and I will be out and about, but I’ll be checking the blog through the morning. Leave your questions and comments below.
