Ole Miss at Alabama

Getting settled into the press box. Still more than 2 1-2 hours to kick.

As I type, the rain has just begun to fall. All we need from an 8:15 (sure to be 8:30 kick) are conditions to slow the game. Wish us luck.

It was an uneventful ride over from Tupelo, the best kind. Just looking at some early scores, Tyrone Nix and Middle Tennessee got a big win, 49-28 at Georgia Tech. The Blue Raiders are 3-1.

Nice to see Alma Mater U with a big win, 63-10, but it was against Tulane.

What do you make of Arkansas? Losing at Texas A&M was no big surprise, but losing 58-10? Do you think the Hogs start mailing it in, or are they an improved team when Ole Miss plays in Little Rock in late October?

And what about Johnny Football, Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel. He was 29-for-38 passing for 454 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions, and he’s in Oxford next week.

Big game for Manziel, but big games against the Arkansas defense are the norm. A&M had more than 400 yards in the first half and finished with 716.

I think A&M is good. Still not sure they’ve been challenged beyond Florida, and they let the Gators get up on them in the second half then.

It will definitely be a challenge for the Ole Miss defense next week, after tonight’s challenge against the most efficient QB in the SEC, A.J. McCarron, who has thrown 10 touchdown passes and no interceptions.

I will have updates on Twitter and will be back here at halftime and after the game. The rain has settled into what looks like a light mist now. It’s a good day to be on the second row in the box.
