Ole Miss welcomes “Johnny Football” to Oxford as Texas A&M – led by redshirt freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel – plays its first SEC road game.

Manziel was 29-for-38 passing for 454 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions as the Aggies amassed 716 yards against struggling Arkansas in a 58-10 win Saturday. Manziel also rushed 14 times for 104 yards and a touchdown.

Arkansas totaled 514 yards against the A&M defense.

Manziel represents a different type of challenge for the Rebels. Unlike Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron and Texas quarterback David Ash, Manziel will not look to stay in the pocket. He went into the Arkansas as the Aggies leading rusher and the No. 7 rusher in the SEC at 87.3 yards a game.

As his passing numbers show, he’s pretty accurate too. He made a couple of nice throws against Arkansas was moving left and throwing back across his body.

Manziel’s day against the Hogs broke an SEC total offense record shared by Archie Manning and former LSU quarterback Rohan Davey.

This one Twitter from Brent Zwerneman, who covers Texas A&M for Houston and San Antonio: Goodness, had overlooked this note earlier: Manziel’s 557 total yards broke the SEC record of 540 set by Archie Manning and Rohan Davey.

PA did you watch that video? If so, what do you think about it? I noticed it when it happened. It was bama’s first 3rd down on the game. The ref spotted the ball and then moved it to give them a first down.

Penn wagers crew. Same bunch that hose us every year. An they usually get assigned the Alabama Ole miss game, regardless of consistent controversey.

This Aggie team is very good, The Gators got them in the last half due the Gators good defense and strength. This Ole Miss team is no where in the class of Gators at this stage of the game. So the Rebels will probably lose this game to the A&M bunch. The Gators played them in their stadium and that 12 man was very much in the game.

I just saw it. I’ll tell you up front I don’t typically come down on the side of conspiracy. This particular instance is a small sample size, one play in the game where it’s possible this could have been an honest mistake. Refs are human. They’re going to make mistakes. They’ll have poor judgment and make poor decisions too. I also think when a team is ranked No. 1 and wins all the time it gets the benefit of the doubt subconsciously. The winning team is expected to make winning plays. Conspiracies and refs on the take are all possible when you involve the human element. I just don’t think that’s where we are.

  I understand what you are saying but this was caught on video and it is clear that he turned his toes forward and moved the spot. I’ve never seen a ref do that before. Do you think the sec or NCAA would look at something like this?

Nothing will happen as long as Ole Miss is on the screwed in. My question is how can this exact same crew, that has been in the midst of controversey in this series continue to get assigned this game? The 2007 high heels game in Oxford was a royal screwing that no one ever answered for. And it’s not like this guy hasn’t botched big games. He gave Florida a national championship at Knoxville back in the day too. Penn Waggers..hasn’t gotten it right in 35 years, why would he start last night?
