From College Station, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel – also known by his catchy nickname of “Johnny Football” –  broke an SEC total offense record shared by Archie Manning and former LSU quarterback Rohan Davey in the Aggies’ 58-10 win over Arkansas. Manziel is being compared to Cam Newton, who two years ago burst onto the SEC scene for one season and led Auburn to the national championship. …

ESPN’s Chris Low calls the Aggies a sleeper in the West as he breaks down the SEC from Week 5. …

From Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s offensive numbers took a dip following the Ole Miss game. The Rebels’ offensive numbers took a dip against the Crimson Tide’s defense, though Ole Miss sustained touchdown drives against Alabama — two of them — more than any team has this season. …

From Athens, both Georgia and South Carolina struggled with Eastern Division foes last week. Maybe they were looking ahead to this Saturday for their top 10-matchup against one another in Columbia. Also, Edward Aschoff of ESPN writes that Georgia’s offense has an unstoppable feel about it. Speaking of the Georgia offense, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier is impressed by the Bulldogs’ freshman running backs. …

Georgia and Florida won’t be the only matchup of ranked SEC teams this weekend. LSU visits Florida in a game that in August would have had the road Tigers as a big favorite. Sometimes things change during the season, and now LSU is trying to figure out why wins are coming as easily these days. …
