Day After Observations tomorrow morning. Special thanks to videographer Kyle Alford. I’ve covered a lot of Ole Miss losses the last several years, none quite like this one.
POST GAME
Defensive coordinator Dave Wommack
Offensive coordinator Dan Werner
HALFTIME
A&M has a 278-273 yardage edge.Ole Miss has a 3-1 edge in turnovers, but the late pick six thrown by Bo Wallace has the game tied and not Ole Miss with a lead and about to receiver the second half kick.
Manziel: 11-for-18 passing, 114, 0 TD, 1 INT
Manziel has been sacked three times, twice by Sawyer. He’s also rushed 13 times for 58 yards.
Wallace is 9-for-17 passing, 175, 0 TD, 1 INT. Mackey has a 68-yard catch, Vince Sanders and Donte Moncrief each have three catches.
Wallace has rushed six times for 21 yards and scored on a 14-yard TD.
The Rebels’ other TD came on a 1-yard run by JEff Scott, who has rushed eight times for 53 yards.
PRE-GAME
Settling into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Lots of rain around Oxford right now, but I’m guessing it moves out before the 6 p.m. kick.
Interesting early game between two struggling SEC teams Ole Miss will play later this month in Auburn and Arkansas.
Arkansas, which lost 58-10 at Texas A&M last week, won 24-7. The Razorbacks’ defense, which was giving up 510.2 yards a game, gave up 328 to an Auburn offense that has now scored just two touchdowns in three SEC games.
Auburn plays here next week, the 11:21 a.m. kick.
Auburn, having previously been adamant that Kiehl Frazier was its quarterback, made a change in the second half. Clint Moseley, considered the better pocket passer to Frzier the athlete, played the last two quarters and was 13-for-21 passing for 166 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Moseley had a big game against Ole Miss last year, going 12-for-15 for 160 yards, no picks and four touchdowns.
Note to Dave Wommack: Auburn quarterbacks were sacked eight times, four each for Frazier and Moseley. Arkansas went into the game 11th in the SEC with seven sacks through five games.
Arkansas had a bit of a change on offense too, moving away from Knile Davis at running back and two Dennis Johnson. Both have had good games against Ole Miss in the past, Davis a multi-touchdown game and more than 100 yards two years ago in Fayetteville, Johnson with 160 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in Oxford last year.
I’ll have Ole Miss-A&M updates on Twitter and will be back here at halftime and after the game.
