Hugh Freeze had praise for Auburn’s defensive line on Monday and said that defense has kept the Tigers in games. Now that Auburn defense says it’s hoping to force more turnovers against an Ole Miss offense that has been prone to give them away. Also from Joel Erickson at AL.com, quarterback Bo Wallace leads a list of five players from the Ole Miss offense that Auburn needs to keep an eye on.

From Chattanooga, columnist Mark Wiedmer says Tennessee’s visit to Mississippi State this week is crucial for Vols coach Derek Dooley. …

From Nashville, Vanderbilt is hoping to build off its SEC road win at Missouri and apply the same pressure to the Florida offense that it did to the Tigers. …

Speaking of Missouri, there’s a tone of frustration for the SEC newcomer as its gotten off to an 0-3 start in league play, has quarterback issues and faces Alabama this week. …

And speaking of struggle. Kentucky has a “shell” of the team it expected to have due in large part to injuries. One of those came against Mississippi State last Saturday to promising redshirt freshman quarterback Patrick Towles who is now listed as week to week. …

From Athens, Mark Richt insists he remains confident after Georgia’s lop-sided loss at South Carolina, but down the road in Atlanta, the state’s leading newspaper says the Bulldogs will be a 10-2 under-achiever unless they beat Florida.
