Former Ole Miss coach David Cutcliffe, now in his fifth season at Duke, is off to a 5-1 start. The Blue Devils have gained inspiration from the return of a key player after a terrible jet ski accident. …

From Auburn, Tigers coach Gene Chizik says he will announce a starting quarterback today — at least to his competitors, Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley. Everyone else will have to wait. …

From Tuscaloosa, Nick Saban says media folks — and maybe others, maybe it’s not just media folks — are wasting time with trying to predict the outcome of college football games due to the sport’s parity. …

From Baton Rouge, LSU’s struggling offensive line will have its hands full trying to contain South Carolina end Jadeveon Clowney in this weekend’s SEC top 10 matchup. …

There will be disappointment for either Tennessee or Mississippi State Sunday morning after Saturday’s late kick in Starkville. ESPN blogger Edward Aschoff calls the game a must-win for both teams. …

    The weird thing about Duke’s 5-1 start (only loss AT Stanford) is that they’re probably going to end the season with a losing record: Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Florida State, Clemson, at Georgia Tech, Miami – that’s about as close to a murderer’s row you can get in the ACC.

    I know there’s been a conversation about whether Ole Miss should have played Texas – there’s NO DOUBT Duke shouldn’t have played Stanford! When was the last time Duke went to a bowl?
