Rebels and ball-protection

You can often find a connection between the turnover margin stat and success — or lack thereof — on the field.

There are rare exceptions … such as Ole Miss finishing plus-4 in turnovers against Texas A&M yet still losing the game. The Rebels were plus-2 against Auburn, however, and broke a 16-game SEC losing streak.

Bottom line is turnover margin is a big deal, and in the last two weeks the Rebels are a combined plus-6. That’s allowed them to climb from No. 95 to No. 55 nationally in turnover margin. While Ole Miss has shown improvement in a lot of areas, turnover margin was not one of them. The Rebels were No. 100 at the end of last year, a 2-10 season.

The Rebels are a top 30 team in two categories: 29th in rushing offense with 211.14 yards a game, 26th in sacks at 2.71 per game. They rank fifth in the SEC in both categories. NCAA Stats

PA, a lot of good recruiting news over the last week or so with Christian Morgan (TE), Jeremy Liggins (ATH) and Darius Cummings (DL). Have you heard any updates on Nick Brassell? I see he’s still playing for EMCC and caught a TD pass this past weekend, so at least he’s still playing. I hope he can straighten up and decides to come back to Ole Miss. Noticed he started a new Twitter account and apparantly he’s a daddy now.
