Hugh Freeze on SEC teleconference

Highlights from Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze from his time on the SEC teleconference. …

Opening Comments
We’re thrilled to get a road SEC win last week. That can only help in the progress on our journey. It builds confidence in our young kids, and hopefully that will help us as we travel to Athens. They’re playing their best football right now, and it’s going to be a great challenge, one that we look forward to.

What stood out about Georgia’s defense against Florida?
The energy and passion. They played with relentless pursuit. They were impressive in the way they ran to the football and were just more aggressive than in some of the earlier games.

Do you police player comments about opponents?
I don’t think our players would even think to do that in the point we’re at. We know we’re young and short on depth. Every game we play is going to be a challenge. It would shock me if our kids would do anything but tell the truth about how they view Georgia and that’s Georgia is a fine football team.

On Alabama secondary
It’s the most disciplined secondary I’ve ever faced. Regardless of what coverage they’re in or what deception you try to give them they do not get out of position, and they do not blow coverages. They’re aggressive and they go for a lot of balls. Sometimes they might misplay the ball. If that’s the worst thing you can say about a defensive backfield then they’re doing a really good job.
