Praise for Henderson

For Ole Miss basketball, you can talk about talent, chemistry, lineups, playing rotations and suspensions, but talk of the NCAA tournament is never far away.

Will the Rebels get there?

Murphy Holloway believes the answer the is yes and says the biggest reason will be the presence of junior college transfer Marshall Henderson.

“I think Marshall gets us there,” Holloway said. “Have we ever had a straight shooter who can shoot like that? I don’t think we’ve ever had one. I think he gets us there.”

It would seem that Holloway is overlooking Chris Warren. The third-leading scorer in Ole Miss history was himself a dandy shooter. Henderson will do some different things than Warren did, but at the end of the day there’s one big similarity: Henderson, like Warren, is a shooter. He’s looking to shoot, and he’s going to be streaky. Last night it was a bad streak before it was a good one, but ultimately his numbers were Warren-esque: 6-for-15 from the floor, 5-for-12 from 3, 19 points.
