Hugh Freeze’s practice’s have been much shorter this week and Ole Miss continued that on Wednesday only going for about 75 minutes. “It was good. You know it’s that time of the year where I wish we had a healthy football team, but that’s part of it. Our attitude and preparation have been good,” Freeze said about the practice today.
CJ Johnson, Woodrow Hamilton, Trae Elston, Wesley Pendleton, and Isaac Gross were all “banged up” today, but Freeze said they were going to try to go Saturday against LSU.
Freeze was asked about the process of cutting the practices down due to the scholarship situation and depth issues, “You lose about 4-5 periods with that, about 20 minutes. Obviously we haven’t played our best at the end of the game these last two weeks, and you wonder how much of that is depth. You really can’t find that reason. I don’t know if that can be attributed more to the depth issues or to the fact that we’ve cut back the practice 20 minutes a day.”
LSU possesses a potent run game and Freeze echoed that when asked about them, “They are all talented, big, and physical. They force you to commit a number of guys to the box and now they have some confidence throwing the ball which creates one on ones on the outside.”
LSU’s defense isn’t too bad either, but offensive coordinator Dan Werner was focused on their speed off the edge’s on the defensive line, “ You look at their front four and I can’t remember the last time I saw that much speed coming off the edge on a team. It’s not just their first team guys too it’s their second team guys too.”
