Two years removed from a national championship, Gene Chizik has been fired at Auburn after an 0-8 SEC season. Here’s a timeline of Chizik’s time at Auburn. FWIW, he was 1-3 against Ole Miss. …

Chizik becomes the fourth SEC coach to be fired this season. The first was Joker Phillips at Kentucky. Here’s an update on the Wildcats’ search.

Former Ole Miss running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis had a big day for the Bengals yesterday. Green-Ellis remains one of my favorite players to cover. It was a big night for Eli, too, in the Giants rout of the Packers. …

After winning five home basketball games in the convincing manner that it should win them, Ole Miss has a week off to prepare for Rutgers, which visits Saturday as part of the Big East-SEC Challenge. Here’s a look at Rutgers, which is 4-1 after rallying to win at UNC-Greensboro on Sunday. …

    Featured on the video board… James Franco? I didn’t know he was up for a coaching position! Hahahaha! In all seriousness, it will be interesting to see who fills all of these SEC coaching positions open this year. PA, I’m hearing Houston Nutt’s name mentioned in the Boston College job hunt. Have you heard of him surfacing anywhere else?

    I have also heard Houston’s name with BC. He has the body of work for someone to give him a look, but I’m not sure that would be a team from inside the region.
