The trainer’s take

I had Thanksgiving dinner with who I would term a second-cousin-in-law down in Meridian.

My wife has family in Georgia. One of her cousins married an athletic trainer who works in the Atlanta area and has worked with Denzel Nkemdiche. He knows the Nkemdiches and predicted that Robert Nkemdiche will sign with Ole Miss.

That’s not big news at the moment, since Denzel told folks Saturday night that Robert will commit to Ole Miss in two weeks. If that’s the case, I suspect that Robert Nkemdiche will follow through with the commitment and sign, although it is recruiting, so leave open the window for the unexpected.

What I found interesting in the conversation at Thanksgiving was the opinion that Denzel and Robert need to be together for Robert’s sake, that Robert needs the settling influence of a brother who has shown production and leadership skills this season.

I suspect Robert Nkemdiche can find his own way in football if that’s what he chooses, but there can be a lot of benefit to playing with your brother too.

My cousin-in-law was of the opinion that Robert Nkemdiche would sign with Ole Miss and that he and Denzel would go out at the same time, Robert to the draft after his junior year.

Would be a great brother team. Hope we get to see them play together for a couple of years.
