From ESPN, Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst and AD Steve Pederson offer some thoughts on playing in the same bowl for a third-straight year. The Panthers will face Ole Miss in the BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham on Jan. 5.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette calls Pitt in Birmingham a winter tradition — almost.

More on Pitt here. QB Tino Sunseri has thrown 19 touchdowns with only two interceptions. Pitt leads the Big East in pass efficiency, and Sunseri has the nation’s longest streak of pass attempts without a pick at 270.

Long-time NBA star Karl Malone says he’s embarrassed at his former school’s handling of the bowl situation, and with Louisiana Tech left out at 9-3, it’s time for the former athletes to start running the show in Ruston.

There had been some concern among San Jose State fans that at 10-2 the Spartans, coached by former Ole Miss assistant Mike MacIntyre, could be left out of bowl game, but San Jose will find its way to Washington, D.C., for a matchup against Bowling Green in the Military Bowl. …
