Three Heisman finalists were revealed Monday: Johnny Manziel, Collin Klein and Manti Te’o. USA Today says the vote will be historically close. It shouldn’t be, but it may.

The Dallas Morning News presents a different review. Results of its straw poll has Manziel as a “significant favorite” to become the second-straight Texas quarterback — that’s as in state of but not as in Longhorns — to win the award, following Baylor’s Robert Griffin III last year. …

More on the hit from Alabama DL Quinton Dial against Georgia QB Aaron Murray, this from the Georgia perspective. Georgia AD Greg McGarity told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he was “stunned” to see the replay on Youtube. McGarity didn’t see the hit live. He immediately called the SEC office to make sure the play would be reviewed. Alabama safety Robert Lester on Monday said the hit was just “part of football.” It is, and it’s the part the NCAA and the NFL say they’re trying to regulate. …
