Developing the young guys

The new year will be almost five days old and the bowl season practically complete when Ole Miss and Pittsburgh finish up Saturday afternoon.

Kickoff for the BBVA Compass Bowl is noon.

The late date gave Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze some flexibility as far as scheduling around the Christmas break. The Rebels had a week off and still had practices on campus on the back side of that time.

Defensive coordinator Dave Wommack really likes the way things have played out, giving the staff a chance to develop the young guys and focus on Pitt as well, he says.

Ole Miss has seven true or redshirt freshmen and two first-year junior college transfers among its defensive two-deep.

It’s my feeling that the Rebels are on a comeback. This past season reflects this, they could have been a 9 and 3 team, but just a few mistakes removed this. They will be back under the leadership of coach Freeze and his staff. GO REBELS!!!
