Ole Miss-Vanderbilt Postgame

Video from last’s night’s postgame, starting with Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson, who says he knew he would make it.

After Vanderbilt’s incredible first-half 3-point shooting of 60 percent (12-for-20) — and remember, that’s from a team that shooting just 33.4 percent, ninth in the SEC, when the game began — the Commodores cooled off to a respectable but much more human 33.3 percent (5-for-15) in the second half and were then 0-for-5 from 3 in the overtime.

Also, found this video from Matt Norlander on Youtube showing the back-to-back 3-pointers, the first from Vanderbilt’s Kevin Bright that looked like it would be a game-winner, then the buzzer-beating shot by Henderson that forced the overtime.

Great finish. This game highlights the reason we will not make to the tourney again this year. Poor coaching. Why stay in the zone all night when they are setting g records knocking down threes? Poor utilization of talent on the bench. Kennedy got bailed out by MH last night. Maybe he can bailout the entire season.

  And you’re basing your assumption on what happened Jan. 15 when the NCAA field is announced in March (oh, ye of little faith). Your disappointment of not making the NCAA tournament for years is duly noted but they are only three games into the SEC schedule. At 14-2, taking care of business at home the remainder of the season, would mean 22 wins. That’s not a lock for a bid, but a strong case. Of the remaining games, there are great RPI-tournament-resume-building games against Missouri and Florida. Personally, I don’t think a win in either of those contest is absolutely necessary, but a good showing would certainly help. Florida’s super talented but Ole Miss might have the slightest of edge in the rest department. Their game before the Florida game is a home match against Kentucky on a Tuesday. Florida will play on Wednesday and then get Ole Miss on Saturday. As for the Missouri game, the Rebels host arch-rival Miss. State on Wednesday at 8 p.m. then will play at Missouri on Saturday at noon. Not good. But I do think they’ll make the NCAA field (might be short-lived) but they’ll go because they should be focused at home and the SEC start with wins over then-No. 10 Missouri and two road wins.
