Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy will occasionally view his basketball team through a historical context like when he pointed out Ole Miss had never beaten a Big East team at home after the Rebels topped Rutgers earlier this year. Kennedy said he thought Ole Miss might have slipped in a win “pre-World War II” but hadn’t even done it back then.
Well, if the Rebels defeat Arkansas Saturday afternoon to move to 4-0 in SEC play, it won’t be the first time Ole Miss would be 4-0 in the conference, but you would have to go back to pre-World War II.
The last time Ole Miss won its first four league games was 1936-1937 when it defeated LSU twice and Tulane twice.
George Bohler coached the Rebels to a 20-6 mark that season, 7-3 in the SEC.
Other opponents included Baldwyn, Tupelo and the Memphis YMCA.
