Speaking of rankings, Michigan grabbed the top spot in the AP poll, a first for the Wolverines since 1992. ESPN lists the Big 10 No. 1 in its conference power rankings. The SEC is No. 7, slightly ahead of the Missouri Valley Conference. …
On the subject of rankings, Florida and Alabama are 1 and 2 in ESPN’s list of recruiting classes. Ole Miss is No. 13, which makes the Rebels No. 6 in the SEC behind Texas A&M, LSU and Georgia in addition to Florida and Alabama. Signing Day, on Feb. 6, is fast approaching.
The Ole Miss ranking will surge upward if Robert Nkemdiche signs, something that has been long been rumored and expected and appears more likely after Nkemdiche cancels his LSU visit.
Lake City, offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil told some media he was “confused” after his Ole Miss visit, which was the objective, I’m sure, by his hosts, who are working hard to get in late with the nation’s top OL prospect. It appears Hugh Freeze and his staff have done just that. Alabama and Georgia remain strong contenders as well. …
