National Signing Day is getting closer. Thank goodness …

A little on Houston defensive end Chris Jones here, the local five-star, who is projected to MSU and Ole Miss by different recruiting media. Jones spoke to ESPN late last night. Looks like it’s getting ugly. …

While there has been more drama with Chris Jones, another five-star, OL Laremy Tunsil is “confused” as signing day nears. Some project Tunsil for Ole Miss as well. Last year Freeze and his staff were able to get in conversations about high-profile prospects but were not able to close on any many of them as Freeze would have liked. He’s working to change that this year. …

While the Rebels lost RB Peyton Barber to Auburn over the weekend, they picked up former Auburn commit Jordan Wilkins. Here’s AL.com’s account of Wilkins’ commitment …

    Pa as hard as is to keep up during this time as a fan know it s to be hard as a writer.
    sometimes I guess recruiting can change hour to hour if not minute to minute.
    I think the journal has a home run with her coverage and we as Ole Miss fans appreciate all you do to keep us in the loop. and Yes the big day is close thankfully

    We lost Barber and Reed but picked up Wilkens. A good sign is that Daniel is still with us. Many thought he would not be. Reed leaving may have helped with Daniel. By my count we have 17 commits on this year’s count. That leaves us room to add 8 more. Nkemdiche, Tunsil, Golson, Morris friend of Nkemdiche, Conner, and Jones. Add one more or save it for next year. Don’t see how we can get all seven but this is my wish list. Wednesday is going to be fun.
