Opening Day

In a top-15 match up on Opening Day, No. 14 Ole Miss takes on No. 13 TCU at Swayze Field. First pitch is 4 p.m.

The Rebels are getting a lot of attention for their starting pitching, most notably Bobby Wahl, who has been named to the Golden Spikes Award watch list, and Mike Mayers.

But Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco says it’s the bullpen depth that could make this season’s pitching staff stronger than last year’s.

I would like to be up there once again in Lafayette Co. to take in some of those Rebel baseball games this season. Oxford and Lafayette Co has change very much since my days residing there, The hills, forest, waterways where I once hunted and fished as a lad not as it once was. The University has expanded into some of the territory thay once roamed. The Baptist Hospital has also taken over some of the land and where to old fair grounds stood. The city grocer store where I worked one summer as a produce worker earnings for Fall school tuition, now a restaurant. Yep not like as it once was. Time changes everything hopeful for the best. JB
