The ninth straight win was a different sort of win for Ole Miss, one about offense and hitting and not pitching.
Lipscomb batter, held dormant for much of the series, exploded against Sam Smith for seven runs — all earned — on 10 hits in 4.1 innings.
The Rebels were down 8-4 in the seventh when the put up five runs on seven hits.
Offensive leaders for Ole Miss included Tanner Mathis (3-for-5), Austin Anderson (3-for-4), Stuart Turner (2-for-3 3 RBI), Andrew Mistone (3-for-4).
The bullpen was solid giving up just one run over the remaining 4.2 innings. That was against freshman left-hander Matt Denny, who pitched two innings. Tanner Bailey pitched the final 2.2 innings without giving up a hit or a run. He walked one and struck out three.
Ole Miss is 16-1 and will play two more non-conference games this week on the road at La.-Monroe before traveling to begin SEC play at Arkansas this weekend.
