Will update this shortly with the Howell and Gillom trophy information. Marshall Henderson and Murphy Holloway on the men’s side, Valencia McFarland on the women’s, are candidates from Ole Miss. The banquet is to begin at 11:30.

This comes from NBC Sports, which has named Andy Kennedy coach of the year in the SEC.

    Before the question was asked how do you fire a 20 win a year coach? Now the question is how do you fire the SEC coach of the year?

    I think that if Mr Kennedy and Rebels don’t make it to the NCAA dance he is a goner, Probable can be said for baseball coach Bianco at the end of season unless the Rebels make it to Omaha.. Championships are the Word and achievements. OM has just started to make the national scene once again, a very good football season and landing the nations highest recruitment class. Who knows at this early stage just how the Rebel basketball and baseball season will go. They could be champions this season. The potential is there. GO REBELS!!! JB

    I’ll be honest I’m not the basketball Guru, I’m just an Ole Miss fan. Yes, Coach Kennedy has had 20 win seasons and is the winning-est coach in school history. I don’t know how any of that translates to money. I mean are we paying Kentucky money to our coach or are we paying small change? I’d honestly like to know a comparison of what say Duke or Kentucky’s coaches make per win versus what we pay per win. That seems like the only logical way to look at things from a business perspective. What are you getting for your money versus Vanderbilt or whomever? If it’s better than most, you keep him, that is, if you can accept 20 win seasons and not making the dance very often or at all. If we are paying more than most then we have to re-evaluate. If we want to win the NCAA, then we might have to re-evaluate a lot of things in the program. I don’t think we can blame all this on one guy.

    Dayum! Coach of the year? That’s preposterous! Obviously there were no taxi drivers voting…LMAO…It would be fitting for Ole MI$$ to fire Squidward! Ole MI$$ seems to copy everything Mississippi State does, lately. We hire an run/ option spread football coach and after 3 years of major butt kickings, Ole MI$$ hires a cheap imitation and Mississippi State fires their hoops coach after he has a 20 win season and lo and behold here go the Blackbears..firing the SEC coach of the year…It’s time to stop copying Mississippi State and branch out on your own.

    Always amazes me how people pass judgement on things they don’t know nothing about. Coach Kennedy is a good coach. Tell me this… who would want the Ole Miss job if Ole Miss fired a man that won 20 games 6 years in row and named just named Coach of the Year. INSANITY. Many have suggested Michael White…he wouldn’t take the job. Btw, why didn’t the Journal mention that this morning. Parrish is so QUICK to be critical of Kennedy; why not give him a “pat on the back” for being named Coach of the Year. All the negative crap gets REAL OLD. Go Rebels… nothing would make me happier to see them win this tournament, and trust me, if Buckner has a good tournament, we will win it.

    To PA and JB~ Seems like a couple of weeks ago and some were wondering about status of Andy’s job. Now he is SEC COACH OF THE YEAR! Outstanding.
