A few notes from the Rebels’ 8-3 win over La.-Monroe, the University formerly known as Northeast Louisiana.
Freshman pitcher Brady Bramlett settled down and threw four scoreless innings after ULM scored two in the first.
Jeremy Massie gave up two hits and a run in 1.1 innings of relief, the only run allowed out of the pen as five relievers threw over the final four innings.
Bramlett allowed three hits, two runs, both earned, three walks and struck out nine to improve to 3-0.
The Rebels cranked out 14 hits – 11 of them singles –and stretched a 4-3 lead with three runs in the eighth.
Stuart Turner led the way with a 3-for-5 performance, and Tanner Mathis, Andrew Mistone, Sikes Orvis and Will Allen had two hits each.
Going into SEC play Ole Miss has upped its collective batting average to .310, led by Turner at .492. and Austin Anderson at .397.
Andrew Mistone (.328) and Preston Overbey (.323) have made recent jumps. Auston Bousfield is third at .333.
Ole Miss enters SEC play at 18-1, tying for the best start under Mike Bianco with the 2004 team that hosted the first Oxford Regional.
