Bianco’s top 10

NCAA tournament bids will be announced Monday morning, and Ole Miss expects to make the field for the 11th time in 13 years under Mike Bianco.

Bianco, a former LSU player and assistant coach, was head coach at McNeese State for three seasons before taking the Ole Miss job for the 2001 season.

He reached two milestones at Ole Miss earlier this season, first becoming the program’s all-time wins leader and second winning his 500th game. The latter came during the Tennessee series in Knoxville.

Prior to last week’s SEC tournament I asked Bianco to list his 10 most memorable wins as Ole Miss coach. Here’s his list with his comments on each win included:

1. May 16, 2009, Fayettville: Ole Miss 16 Arkansas 3

Clinched SEC Regular Season Championship.

40th Regular Season Win

First Ole Miss Regular Season SEC Championship in 37 years.

2. June 5, 2005, Oxford: Ole Miss 20 Oklahoma 5

First championship in an Oxford regional.

3. May 28, 2006, Hoover, AL: Ole Miss 9 Vanderbilt 3

SEC Tournament Championship, first in 29 years

4. June 1, 2009, Oxford: Ole Miss 4 Western Kentucky 1

Tremendous performance by Drew Pomeranz, most electric atmosphere ever.

5. June 5, 2005, Fayetteville: Ole Miss 9 Arkansas 1

Clinched SEC West championship, 40th regular season win.

6. June 5, 2009, Oxford: Ole Miss 4 Virginia 3

Oxford Super Regional Game 1, Matt Smith walk-off home run, most dramatic win ever.

7. April 11, 2006, Jackson: Ole Miss 1 Mississippi State 0

Fifth-straight Mayor’s Trophy win. Will Kline, Cody Satterwhite and Garrett White combined for the shutout, the first in series history. Also the night Will Kline became a star.

9. June 2, 2012, College Station: Ole Miss 6 Texas A&M 3

I think the Rebs will make it in along with several more SEC teams, , Alabama, Arkansas,LSU, Ole MIss, Vandy, S Carolina, Miss State, and Gators, FSU could be host to a regional. Probable LSU, Vandy, N Carolina and FSU national seeds. Vandy and LSU for Championship today at 1430 hours. I think the boyz from Bayou country will out slug Vandy.
