From Yesterday: Miller to transfer

by John Luke McCord

Yesterday in a release from Ole Miss that was supposed to be announcing the addition of a new player in Fadol Brown. However, it also entailed the departure of Maikhail Miller. Miller was a rising sophomore quarterback from Fulton, MS(Itawamba Agricultural High School).

When Freeze first arrived there had been a decision made to greyshirt Miller or even ask him to attend another school, however, Freeze decided to give him what he had been guaranteed, a scholarship. He greyshirted his first semester and was put on scholarship in the Spring of his freshman year. Since then he has run third in the race to be the starting quarterback. In February, Ole Miss inked two highly regarded quarterbacks in Devante Kincade and Ryan Buchanan. The future for Miller looked bleak. He had once been asked about exploring a new position, but that was not something he was interested in.

Here is the release from Ole Miss:

OXFORD, Miss. – Hugh Freeze and the Ole Miss coaching staff have added one more to the Rebels’ impressive 2013 signing class with the addition of sophomore transfer Fadol Brown.

Brown, a 6-4, 275-pound defensive lineman, joins a recruiting class that made waves across the country on National Signing Day and was a consensus top-10 rated class by the major recruiting services.

A native of Charleston, S.C., Brown played at Florida International University last year as a freshman, registering eight tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in 10 games. After leaving the school, he was recruited by most of the Southeastern Conference schools and several others before deciding to be a Rebel. He is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com.

Brown was the Class AA Lineman of the Year and Region 6-A Defensive Player of the Year his senior season at Charleston’s Burke High School in 2010. He made 107 tackles, including 35 TFLs and 15 sacks while helping Burke to the Region 6-A title and a state playoff berth. A two-time all-region selection, he also played tight end and had 28 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns as a senior. Brown enrolled at FIU in the spring of 2012.

He will sit out the 2013 season due to NCAA transfer rules and will then have three years to play three for the Rebels.

Freeze also announced on Tuesday that sophomore quarterback Maikhail Miller has elected to transfer.

Could it be that Miller remember the fate of highly touted QB from Louisiana, Robert Lane, and Nathan Stanley, a QB with a great promise for the future and seeing their tenure at Ole Miss decides to jump ship while the going is good., Robert Lane converted to Tight end and was a good one, but Stanley got the shaft and left for a school where an opportunity was possible for him to play. At this point one the positions that the Rebels appear not short of and that is QB,s. It seem like they always find a good QB to get the job done and now that job fall into the capable hands of Bo Wallace.

I hope the freshman are good,Brunetti just does not seem to have what it takes, he has had a chance under two coaches and outside of running some he was not did well.
I was hoping to see miller used this year, now our choices if bo goes down are brunette or 2 freshman, who have not learned the system. by next year QB ought to have a couple of good back ups, but I am worried this fall
