Sunday 8.4 Practice Report

No major injuries for the Rebels today. Considering the depth at some positions and a major injury on Saturday, that’s a watch point for the rest of camp.

Here’s Hugh Freeze after practice:

The Rebels worked out in shoulder pads today. Full gear is coming on Tuesday.

As Freeze mentioned they “saved” Wallace for later in practice. He had a nice downfield completion to Ja-Mes Logan but otherwise did nothing outstanding or terrible. He’s coming along.

Logan split back wide after the injury to Vince Sanders. That moved Korvic Neat into the slot. Freshmen Laquon Treadwell and Quincy Adeboyejo are running second team. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them stay there for depth chart purposes yet get plenty of snaps in the opener.

Collins Moore, a starter when he went down with a shoulder injury on the second day of camp last year, was running with the third group of receivers today.

For Wallace, the soreness is something they anticipated, and he’s working through it.

Here’s what he had to say after practice:

Elsewhere …

Pierce Burton was more active earlier in practice, less active later. Lots of time on the bike for Burton.

Yesterday freshman Laremy Tunsil ran with the ones at left tackle, Emmanuel McCray moving to Burton’s right-side spot. Today McCray remained at left tackle and Robert Conyers ran with the ones at right tackle.

As far as the wounded, Freeze says C.J. Johnson could be the closest to handling practice. Patrick Junen is “coming along but not there.”

I’ve wondered who among the offensive linemen would learn a new position, whether new player or old. OL coach Matt Luke likes to move folks around and constantly talks about getting his best five on the field. Freshman Austin Golson, a tackle in high school, was running second team at right guard today.

Defensively, Robert Nkemdiche remains with the second team, Channing Ward with the first in the absence of Johnson.

Quintavius Burdette and Dehendret Collins were again running first team at corner.

You don’t often see Freeze up in the pads yelling at players, but he had that type of conversation with Anthony Standifer after Standifer took Cody Core to the ground after a deep catch. There was no injury on the play.
