Miller’s debut at Murray State

Former Ole Miss quarterback Maikhail Miller had an interesting debut for Murray State over the weekend.

Murray led at Missouri 14-13 after the first quarter. It would appear that the Missouri staff made adjustments then. The Tigers went on to outscore Murray 45-0 the rest of the way and win 58-14.

Miller had early success but was also picked off three times. He finished 16-for-32 passing for 145 yards and the one touchdown to go along with the three picks.

He was more successful in the run game, and this is where he could have helped Ole Miss this season.

Miller is a big body and ran for 73 yards on 11 carries. He was Murray’s leading rusher by a wide margin.

I don’t think Miller was about to challenge for a starting job at Ole Miss, but the Rebels don’t have a guy who bounces off contact right now, and he showed that ability in the spring. Maikhail Miller wins collisions.

The Rebels did not look noticeably improved in power running, but they were much better in the red zone against Vanderbilt than they were a year ago. That showed up in the short game with quarterbacks Bo Wallace and Barry Brunetti combining for four rushing touchdowns, the longest coming from 3 yards out.

That Ole Miss team that lost to Jax St. was a team in disarray. This team will demolish Jax St…however, Auburn, Aggies, Bama, Texas and LSU will be a different story..

From the campus you can walk several blocks to State st. , catch the el train and get to Wrigley Field…the north shore, and the tourist trap, otherwise known as Navy Pier…blah.
