Wednesday Morning Update

Had some technical difficulties earlier. Here are the morning links. …

Spanning the globe on a Wednesday morning …

From AL.com, former Alabama offensive lineman Barrett Jones tells WJOX radio not to worry about this season’s Crimson Tide offensive line. Jones, who played a number of positions during his career, expresses complete confidence in the group. …

Check out this video from Brent Zwerneman at MySanAntonio.com as Johnny Manziel leaves the field after his half of football against Rice. Manziel doesn’t linger on the field after he and teammates lock arms and sing what I think is the Aggie War Hymn. (It’s the song that talks about sawing off the horns of poor old Varsity, the Texas mascot.) Manziel is led quickly to the locker room by a team of escorts.

Oklahoma City columnist Berry Tramel says Manziel has by no means been “scared straight” after his summer of headlines followed by Autograph Gate. The biggest crime, though, is how he’s treating Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin.

Manziel did his thing in the second half against Rice. As the Aggies get ready for Alabama after this week’s meeting with Sam Houston State, there are bigger questions about their defense. This from Zwerneman:

From NOLA.com, LSU coach Les Miles gives a sort of “Don’t get in my business” response to a question on the future of running back Jeremy Hill, who has remained on the team in spite of legal troubles. The Tigers were quite impressive on offense without Hill against TCU in Arlington. …

From Mr.SEC.com, Arkansas coach Bret Bielema warns his Razorbacks not to get trapped in the idea that they’ve arrived coming off a 34-14 win over La.-Lafayette. …

Off the beaten path

Perhaps with his next offense John Boyett will say, “As a former Colts player I now humbly submit to your authority.” …
