Monday Presser Notebook

Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace talks about the Rebels’ read option, Texas and the rankings.

We’re awaiting other players and Hugh Freeze now.

Highlights:

Freeze says he’s not yet spoken with Charles Sawyer but that the two will meet and that Sawyer left a humble, apologetic voice mail. Freeze says Sawyer is one of the best kids on the team but there will be “in-house” consequences that he will not discuss.

Freeze seemed a little disappointed to be facing a new defensive coordinator in Texas’ Greg Robinson. That will affect game-planning. He has gone back and watched video of Robinson at Texas in the mid 2000s and also at Michigan and Syracuse.

He thought Serderius Bryant was “phenomenal” at linebacker in place of Denzel Nkemdiche.

Freeze also spoke highly of reserve OL Robert Conyers, who got a lot of snaps against SEMO.

While there’s no definitive statement on Sawyer’s availability for Texas, Freeze didn’t rule out more personnel moves at corner. They’re being considered, he said, but it’s unlikely any move to corner by anyone would come before the open date.

He went on to say he was pleased with Mike Hilton’s game at corner except for one play.

Freeze said he expects to see a lot of “emotion” from Texas and to see the Longhorns “raise their play.”

He also said he expects his own players to respond after he challenged them for playing without enough passion in the second half against SEMO.

Here’s Freeze:
