Tuesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Tuesday morning …

From Columbia (the South Carolina one), Gamecocks quarterback Connor Shaw is playing the best ball of his career. In trying to get past the Georgia loss, South Carolina got off to a good start with a 35-25 win over Vanderbilt, largely due to Shaw’s play. …

From Tuscaloosa, Alabama RB TJ Yeldon, through the school, has issued an apology after gestures made toward Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel during the Tide’s win in College Station Saturday. …

From SI.Com, Stewart Mandel tells why he thinks Manziel is still the best player in the country.

From Baton Rouge, the LSU-Auburn game used to have a lot more luster to it. Now Auburn is a program on the mend, but LSU coach Les Miles says the healing is coming quickly.

From Knoxville, after a 59-14 loss at No. 2 Oregon, Tennessee coach Butch Jones has opened up a quarterback competition. He’ll take a look at a couple of freshmen. Jones says losing will not be tolerated at Tennessee.

Outside the SEC

From Lincoln, Nebraska coach Bo Pelini is caught on tape cursing fans — from two years ago — and that’s further divided a fan base as a leading former player speaks out against Pelini. …

Been a lot of talk about Texas quarterbacks lately. Matt Wyatt found this blast from the past on ESPN Classic. …

From Stillwater, the Oklahoma State media school doesn’t sign off on the stabbing of a dummy that depicts a Sports Illustrated writer. …
