Texas A&M freshman wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones tells the world via Twitter that he’s scheduled for knee surgery today.

Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin had already discussed the possibility of a medial redshirt for Seals-Jones. Rivals rated Seals-Jones the No. 2 Athlete, the No. 40 prospect overall and the No. 3 player in the state of Texas last year.

A&M plays at Ole Miss on Oct. 12. …

The Rebels are at Alabama a week from tomorrow. …

From Nashville, many of us called the Rebels’ opener at Vanderbilt a game of massive importance for Ole Miss, a game that could have gone either way. It swung the Rebels’ way late, and has helped them get off to a 3-0 start with a spot in the rankings.

Now Vanderbilt, whose summer off-field issues continue to make news, is 1-2 and trying to get back to .500 when it faces 0-3 UMass. …
