SEC Power Rankings

Week 6

Alabama strengthened its hold on No. 1 with its 25-0 shutout of Ole Miss. Georgia got back in the national championship picture by beating LSU. Ole Miss drops a spot, and Arkansas — by virtue of almost beating Rutgers last week and by playing Texas A&M to a 12-point game — rises above Tennessee which was outscored 17-7 in the second half by South Alabama but held on to win 31-24.

Ole Miss was outplayed by the number one team in the country. After all the commentary over the last few weeks, Alabama had something to prove on defense and they did just that. Also, I can’t imagine Nick Saban out coaching anyone. He has certainly never done that before! I hope you sense my sarcasm since he has won how many, four national championships? Come on folks, it was one loss to the number one team. OM has a very winnable road game this week, followed by six straight at home. Coach Freeze has already brought the Rebels much farther than anyone possibly imagined at this point. Will he make some mistakes and be out coached along the way? Yes. But stop groaning over one game and give him a chance to build a great program! If anything, Saturday showed OM still needs more depth. That will come with more recruiting success. The reason Alabama always has such a great team is they constantly have top 5 recruiting classes.
