Alford settling in

Anthony Alford says he doesn’t consider himself a natural quarterback, but his athleticism has made up for that throughout his career.

He’s learning the system and settling into his role as a safety as he sits out his transfer year from Southern Miss.

Defensive coordinator Dave Wommack calls Alford the best athlete on the team and a guy who can really help in the secondary when his time comes in 2014.

This week Alford is helping on the scout team by giving the defense a good look at the mobility of Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall.

There haven’t been a lot of called runs for Marshall, though that could change at any given time. Until then Marshall still has the ability to improvise and make things tough on a defense.

‘Defensive coordinator Dave Wommack calls Alford the best athlete on the team “, Coach Johnny Vaught once said that about Archie Manning, and Archie went on to be a famous Pro-footballer. It’s a shame that Archie got coup up in New Orleans with a winless Terrible team all those years. I don’t think Archie ever made to the Pro-Football Hall of Fame., But so many lesser achiever in Pro-ball did. His family name sake will be there one of these days.
