Monday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Monday morning …

It’s Media Monday at Ole Miss later this morning. Lots of topics to cover, most of them centering on improvement, as No. 9 Texas A&M comes to town.

The Aggies have had two weeks to get ready for Ole Miss, as had Auburn. Saturday’s 7:30 ESPN kick will be the first of six-straight home games for Ole Miss.

It’s been nothing but success for Kevin Sumlin in his year-and-a-half at A&M, enough success to get him mentioned as a possible replacement for Lane Kiffin at USC.

One of those questions for Hugh Freeze today will be how confident can this Rebels’ defense be against Johnny Manziel after the success of Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall who really wasn’t running much before he put up 140 rushing yards against Ole Miss.

Georgia survived to win against Tennessee in Knoxville, an overtime victory that has the Eastern Bulldogs at No. 7 in this week’s AP Top 25.

The ramifications of an bizarre string of injuries in the game — not good for Georgia — might not be felt until this week and the weeks to come. …

From Columbia, Mo., the season hasn’t gone the way some might have expected for the Missouri Tigers in their second season in the SEC. After a dominant win at Vanderbilt, Missouri is 5-0 and has entered the AP Top 25 in the 25th spot. Missouri visits Ole Miss in November. …
