Spanning the globe on a Friday morning …

For starters, Tupelo High School coach Trent Hammond offered this shout out to Ole Miss defensive back Dehendret Collins in advance of tomorrow night’s Texas A&M game:

Bleacher Reports says Florida State redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston is more advanced than Johnny Manziel was a year ago when Manziel won the Heisman Trophy. Manziel is advanced enough to challenge Ole Miss this weekend. …

Speaking of Texas A&M, the Aggies are getting new grass turf as part of the renovation of Kyle Field that is expected to be completed in time for the 2014 season. You can by the old grass where Johnny Football runs for $20 for a single square or $400 for a pallet. These days the Aggies are expanding their brand thanks to Manziel, Kevin Sumlin and the SEC.  …

Elsewhere in the state of Texas …

Dallas columnist Kevin Sherrington says there’s no way Texas can beat Oklahoma Saturday, and even if it could it wouldn’t be enough to save Mack Brown’s job as Longhorns coach.

Moving On …

The continuing saga of Jadeveon Clowney at South Carolina. This from Josh Kendall who covers the Gamecocks:

The Associated Press reports that Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville, formerly of Ole Miss, has settled a lawsuit filed by investors seeking to regain money lost in a hedge fund he once helped manage. Tuberville is also the former coach at Auburn and Texas Tech.
