Defensive end C.J. Johnson will have surgery on his ankle and will miss the remainder of the season, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said.
Johnson will be eligible for a medical redshirt which would give him two seasons remaining at Ole Miss.
He has struggled with injuries most of this season going back to spring drills when he sustained a broken leg. After working his way back from that it was a severely sprained ankle that kept him out of the Auburn and Texas A&M games.
He has appeared in four games with 12 tackles, four tackles for loss and two pressures. His best game this season was at Texas where he had five tackles and three tackles for loss.
A junior from Philadelphia, Johnson began the season with 87 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks for his career. He had 6.5 sacks last year to lead the team.
