Wednesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Wednesday morning …

Mr.SEC.com was not in favor of another chance for Marshall Henderson. I’m of the opinion that if you can help somebody help them, and Henderson needs the help. So does Ole Miss, which is clearly helped by keeping Henderson on the team. So the administration opens itself up to such valid opinions. I think the length of suspension is appropriate, and it has some teeth to it since Henderson will miss two SEC games. If you were to suspend him for five SEC games or more you get into the question of why keep him around anyway? If the suspension is too long you’re not helping him, and he’s not helping you. …

Missouri’s 7-1 start has included good football on the part of the Tigers’ but also some good fortune along the way … such as injuries sustained by Georgia, Florida and South Carolina, though starting QB Connor Shaw wasn’t injured enough to keep from taking over the game in the fourth quarter and rallying the Gamecocks to a big win.

It’s also worth nothing that Missouri has had the injury problem too with its starting QB, James Franklin. The Tigers were getting some things done with redshirt freshman Maty Mauk before the Carolina loss.

While Franklin could play this weekend, Missouri will miss another team’s starting quarterback when it plays at Tennessee:

Missouri plays at Ole Miss on Nov. 23. …

NOLA.com’s Jim Kleinpeter says the LSU offense didn’t show much, and the defense showed improvement in the Tigers’ lackluster win over FCS foe Furman last week. …

From AL.com, Bob Carlton writes about former Ole Miss chancellor Robert Khayat’s efforts to remove the Confederate flag. Khayat was in Birmingham last night to talk about his book, ‘The Education of a Lifetime.’ …

From the Louisville Courier-Journal, it’s taken a while for Kentucky coach Mark Stoops the get over hi steam’s most recent loss, last week at Mississippi State. Stoops says the Wildcats need to be a smarter football team. …

Marshall IMO should have been suspended for the first 3 games of the season and not any SEC games. I think he’s been punished/admonished enough. What part of frequent random drug tests do people not understand? I’m sure Marshall understands and he will be minding his P&Qs because he needs an impressive last year for a shot at the NBA.
