SEC Power Rankings

It looked like the LSU-Alabama game played out how many thought it would. It will be interesting to see if Auburn gives Alabama its biggest challenge of the year. I gave serious thought to flipping Ole Miss and South Carolina, but I’m not sure the body of work warrants that right now. Early in the season Ole Miss’ win at Vanderbilt seemed to lose some luster every time the Commodores took the field. That’s changing now as Vandy has two impressive SEC wins in its last three games. I thought Vandy’s win at Georgia might have been lightning in a bottle when the Dores failed to exploit Texas A&M’s defense more than they did, the Dores were dominant at Florida. While the Gators are struggling, no team has handled them like Vanderbilt did except Missouri, and that game was at Missouri. Had Ole Miss exploited A&M’s defense the way Mississippi State did the Rebels would be 7-2 right now.

1 Alabama 1

Catching up on the past few days…Hard to see where you can rank MSU above Vandy considering the quality of wins by both schools…

In any polls I’ve not been one to make drastic swings one way or the other. Vandy really wasn’t that good the month after the Ole Miss game. That changed after the open date. They’ve played more like the team I thought they’d be back in August.
