SEC West vs. SEC East? It hasn’t worked out for Tennessee that well of late.

From Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, there is no quarterback controversy with No. 6 Missouri. After this week’s open date for the Tigers, it will be James Franklin who will start against the Rebels on Nov. 23. …

The SEC’s other James Franklin, the Vanderbilt coach, is once again calling on Commodores’ fans to sell out the league’s smallest stadium. Vanderbilt was obliterated at Texas A&M. It’s not so appalling that the Aggies scored 56 points — That’s what they do — but Vanderbilt managed only 21 points against the A&M defense. On both sides of that loss, however, Vanderbilt has impressive wins, first against Georgia then last week against Florida. A win Saturday morning against Kentucky would make the Dores bowl eligible for the third-straight year under Franklin.

From Athens, some Georgia players remain impressed by the practice show Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall put on when he was one of them. …

From Gainesville, Florida fans are divided in their opinions on Gators coach Will Muschamp. …

From AL.com, the Alabama-LSU game was the second-most watched game this season on CBS trailing only Alabama and Johnny Football.

The Crimson Tide takes on Mississippi State this week, and it’s important, Nick Saban says, that his players avoid the “relief syndrome” after their big win over LSU. …

Florida Atlantic AD Pat Chun has been brain-storming with Urban Meyer for possible names to help clean up the mess after the Carl Pelini fallout. …
