Monday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Monday morning …

Dehendret Collins gives us a glimpse of what it’s like to stay and prepare for the Egg Bowl while most folks have left campus for the Thanksgiving holidays:

It’s a mixed-up schedule today with school out at Ole Miss. Hugh Freeze will speak at 12:30 in his last regular Monday presser of the year.

Then the Rebels will practice at 3, and players will speak after practice.

On his Sunday conference call MSU coach Dan Mullen said there was no change in the status of his quarterbacks. It’s not known who the Bulldogs will start against Ole Miss. Dak Prescott did not play against Arkansas and following the Bulldogs’ win in Little Rock, Mullen said it was unlikely that Prescott would return before a bowl game if the Bulldogs get that far.

Tyler Russell was hurt near the end of the Arkansas game. More here from our Logan Lowery.

From Baton Rouge, the LSU defense — yes that defense, not the Tigers’ 2012 squad — did a number on Johnny Football like no one else has. Manziel’s bad day and Oregon’s loss appear to have opened the Heisman race to other hopefuls. …

Speaking of the Heisman, what does Jameis Winston’s sexual assault investigation do to his chances?

At the state level, Mississippi’s football school’s release their Conerly Trophy candidates today. Johnny Football may have played his way out of a second-straight Heisman, but I like Bo Wallace’s chances for a second-straight Conerly. …
