Kennedy talks Tennessee, Henderson-Ray and more

Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy did not see anything in the verbal exchange between Marshall Henderson and Mississippi State coach Rick Ray that will cause Henderson to face discipline or lose playing time.

Ole Miss takes on Tennessee Wednesday night at 7.

“That’s not an issue for us. I don’t foresee anything happening moving forward from our standpoint,” Kennedy said.

The Southeastern Conference has decided it will not get involved in the matter.

A statement from the SEC said, “The commissioner received a call from Coach Ray this morning to discuss the matter, and Coach Ray also reiterated his public apology. The commissioner is satisfied with the way Coach Ray has handled this matter in the aftermath of his actions following Saturday’s game.”

I don’t agree with the SEC commissioner’s office concerning Coach Rick Ray spouting profanity toward an Ole Miss player. He should be punished to set an example to all the other coaches in the league. Since it involved Marshall Henderson, is the commissioner looking the other way?

Ray, the authority figure, lost his cool with an opposing player and is due the criticism he has received. Should Henderson’s role, whatever that might have been, be considered more?

Certainly…BUT, no one has accused Marshall of doing anything wrong. At least I have not seen/read any accusations.
