Hours after arriving home from an official visit to Oxford, Sean Rawlings of Madison (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) committed to Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss, flipping from in-state rival Mississippi State.
Rawlings, who had been committed to the Bulldogs since October, grew up cheering for the Rebels and has made it clear that it was a childhood dream to play at Ole Miss.
Though Rawlings has the frame of a lineman that might play on the edge — standing 6-foot-5, 285 pounds — the Rebels want him to play center. With Evan Swindall’s departure the Rebels will again be out to find stability at that position going forward. It appears Rawlings is planning to redshirt this fall.
247sports ranks Rawlings as the 71st best offensive tackle in the nation as well as the 25th best player in his home state. He is a three-star recruit with a rating of 86.
It was clear that Freeze and staff always wanted to add a center in this class. It appeared just a month ago that prospects at the position seemed to be limited. Fast forward to now and Freeze and staff have added a center prospect from near by that has tremendous upside and a real desire to play for the Rebels. It comes with no discount that Rawlings just so happened to flip from the Rebels in-state rival and that is sure to sweeten this late addition.
