Snow Day!

In the winter that won’t end we’ve had the bitter cold but not the precip in Tupelo. That changed today. Road conditions are making news, and there’s another around to come. So far, props to Tombigbee Electric for keeping the power on.

In other news …

Ole Miss basketball is at Alabama tonight at 8. The Rebels left Oxford Monday afternoon. Alabama coach Anthony Grant understands his team has to be concerned with Marshall Henderson, but he says there’s more to Ole Miss than Henderson. …

Had an “a ha” moment when I remembered I had not posted my recruiting column from Sunday. It’s still timely. Hugh Freeze says his 2014 class might be better top to bottom than his nationally acclaimed 2013 class.

Recruiting Follow-up

Elsewhere in recruiting, Rashaan Evans, the five-star linebacker from Auburn, spurned Auburn in favor of Alabama, and now he’s hearing about it. …

Reaction here from NFL prospects to Michael Sam’s decision to announce that he is gay. CBSSports.com says Sam’s announcement has affected his draft status. Sam was already dealing with a “tweener” issue relative to projected positions of defensive end or linebacker. …

Speaking of the NFL, here’s a Bleacher Report mock draft that wonders if an early run on QBs might shape this year’s draft.

Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel will skip the Aggies pro day and set his own private workout for scouts. He’s among a group of QBs getting some extra work in with outside sources.
