Rebels drop first game

After six straight wins the Ole Miss baseball team suffered its first loss, unable to complete the sweep against Georgia State, falling 6-4.

The Panthers had six runs on 14 hits, good but not outstanding. The Rebels weren’t able to score with them. Ole Miss had four runs on eight hits.

Georgia State got a complete game from Matt Rose.

Ole Miss lost a lead with the bullpen. The Rebels were up 4-3 after six, but freshman Cheyne Bickel gave up two hits, one of them a two-run home run in the seventh.

The Panthers stretched their lead in the eight with a run against Aaron Greenwood, who gave up two hits and hit a batter in two innings. He walked none and struck out three.

The Rebels are back in action Tuesday at 4 at Swayze Field against Louisiana-Monroe.
