Better but will it show?

Most coaches try to avoid the “E” word, and Hugh Freeze says there’s only one expectation he has for his players, and that’s to “win the day.”

Freeze says he has no doubt that the Ole Miss football program is better than it was two years ago and better than it was last year.

How that translates to wins and losses in an ever-evolving SEC remains to be seen.

The looming question is how much better is Arkansas. That’s the team that the Sharkfins season hinges upon. Beat them and head to Shreveport and finish 5th. Lose and watch the bowl games on the TV and start assessment of the coaching staff.

      SERIOUSLY! Get some help, Dude!

Speaking of rivalries, LSU coach Les Miles says they have only one rival and that’s Alabama. But Ole Miss says LSU is their rival…hmmm. You can’t have a rivalry if only one team claims it as a rivalry. So what team is Ole Miss’ rival?

Provide the link to Les MIles’ quote Cid. As far as I know, you made that up.
Riddle me this Cid: what is the Magnolia Trophy all about? Look it up an educate yourself. You don’t award trophy’s for just any old game. It signifies a ‘rivalry game’ and the winner gets the trophy.

Lord have mercy, KB. I know about the grand tradition of the mag trophy. Its like the golden boot that LSU and Arkansas play for. But the mag was started in 2008…LSU and BAMA are playing for the SEC West title…they don’t need a trophy. The quote was from Les Miles’ show a few years ago. I think it was 2010.

Rivalry defined is simply a competition. A trophy doesn’t make it a rivalry, the competition between two competitive entities makes it a rival. So basically every game played is between participants. You’ve been schooled.

Now look back to the mid 2000′s…when Cutcliffe was canned. SEC west coaches were Shula, Croom, Nutt, Saban at LSU…Other than Saban, it wasn’t that impressive. Cutcliffe would’ve gained ground and think of the Mississippi QB’s that left the state, that probably would’ve stayed and played for Cutcliffe…he is a great QB coach and Ole Miss fires him because he wouldn’t suck up to certain persons? Good grief.

In an earlier post about SEC West coaches, I inadvertently left out Tommy ” the only way I’ll leave Oxford is in a pinewood box” Tuberville. Sorry.

    • JB

i think Tuberville is to be commended, he took over a collapsed football program, under NCAA investigation ( stripped), scholarships short and made a winning football team, i don’t agree in the way in which he left Ole Miss,( a pinewood box a blessing0 but again i guess its the way of life for that type of person and coach.. I don’t believe Hugh freeze is that type of person, i take him as an honorable man and football coach with a close and caring relationship among his players. whatever!!. i go back to the Johnny Vaught days when I was an avid ole Miss fan,and NO other way, they were national winners in those day, but just take a serious look at what has happen to that great football program now.
