Omaha was great, but here’s a way the city can say thank you

I have covered many different events but never the College World Series before this season.

I had no doubt I would cover in Omaha eventually. Leading up to this season I’d heard many glowing reports about Omaha and the CWS. Every one of those lived up to expectations including the price of hotel rooms, which was the only thing I would count as a negative in the experience.

I have a friend who counts one more in the negative column — the NCAA-sponsored process of ticket exchange from those who purchased original tickets to those looking to buy. I didn’t touch on that in the column.

The special event pricing, however, is something I think the city and its business leaders could restructure and still turn a nice profit — and do something for the people who pump millions into the Omaha economy in the meantime.

PA…I was really disappointed that the FINAL POLLS which had Ole Miss ranked #3 in the nation did not receive the fanfare it was due. I never ONCE saw a write up in the Clarion-Ledger Sports page. The Rebel ‘beat writer’ is awful. He did not go to Omaha to cover the game but instead went to Disney World with family.
Miss. State ended up in the polls ranked #2 in the country last year and you never heard the end of it (yada yada yada) despite the fact they fell apart in the end and were an embarrassment in the championship game….
    Double bubble standards.

    Happy Fourth!!!

Agreed. Ole Miss should have received more coverage for their #3 finish. That is the highest that we have finished a season ranked in any sport since I have been alive (except maybe Men’s Tennis and Women’s Basketball). A great season, especially for a team that was not ranked at the beginning. Hotty Toddy. Now let’s go Rebel football team!!
