Friday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Friday morning …

Interesting. Bo Wallace and Dak Prescott — along with three other SEC QBs — make the Unitas Award watch list. Auburn’s Nick Marshall does not. Arrest an issue perhaps? …

Ole Miss released an updated online roster last night. You’ll see Tee Shepard there at No. 2. This is huge from a depth stand point. The fact that coaches were comfortable moving Mike Hilton back to Huskie after Chief Brown’s injury is a statement about what they think they’ll get from Shepard and the strides they think 6-2 sophomore Derrick Jones has made at corner.

With Senquez Golson and Jones listed as the starters going into camp, depth comes from two converted offensive players — Kailo Moore and Carlos Davis — who haven’t played corner in a game. Senior Cliff Coleman is in that mix too, but Shepard’s presence, assuming he acclimates quickly, gives the Rebels three starter-quality corners.

Scout rated Shepard a five-star prospect and the No. 39 overall player in the 2012 signing class. …

In the facilities race if you’re not improving you’re falling behind. Ole Miss has made great improvements to its football building including a state of the art team meeting room.  Texas A&M’s new digs are pretty nice too … including a barber shop. …

Weight gain should help Tennessee DT Jordan Williams better handle licks from opposing OLs this season. …

The next time Ole Miss plays a road football game at Tulane it won’t be at the Superdome. Nice photo gallery from Nola.com of the Greenies’ new stadium. …

Missouri defensive coaches didn’t have much to say after Auburn’s run game shredded the Tigers in last year’s SEC championship game. Mizzou beat writer Dave Matter takes a look at a Tigers’ defensive front that features a mix of old and new. Mizzou won the trenches against Ole Miss last year, rushing for 260 while holding the Rebels to 126. …

From Bleacher Report, running back Cameron Artis-Payne will help Auburn get over the loss of Tre Mason. …

Former Alabama basketball star, point guard Trevor Releford, will continue his career in Poland. …
