Ole Miss WR Epps arrested by Oxford Police Department

Update 12:26

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze has issued this statement regarding the arrest of Sammie Epps: “We are aware of the matter and will address it once we have gathered more facts.”

I noticed yesterday that Epps was not getting many reps with the second group if any at all. In pass skeleton drills the top three receivers most often were Laquon Treadwell, Cody Core and Vince Sanders. Quincy Adeboyejo was mixing in with Core with the ones.

Mixing in with the twos while I was watching were Dayall Harris and Trey Bledsoe on the outside, Markell Pack on the inside.

Epps had been moved from tight end to the slot early in drills.

A night before an Ole Miss’ annual fan day, freshman wide receiver Sammie Epps was arrested by the Oxford Police Department.

His charge was no driver’s license and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. Epps, a native of Greenwood, was booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center at 11 Friday night, according to the jail docket. He was bailed out by A-One Bonds. He is scheduled to appear in municipal court.

No word of how this may affect his playing time. The Rebels open the season Aug. 28 against Boise State in Atlanta.
